COPENHAGEN FASHION FAIRS PRESS RELEASE FEB. 2010
Optimistic outlook and satisfying results!
Terminal-2 and CPH Vision, Scandinavia's leading trade shows, closed their doors last night on Sunday 14 February, having fully lived up to expectation. They both presented an optimistic outlook for the future - rather than looking back, a positive mindset was on the agenda. This was the place where fashion meant business.
During four hectic days results
showed a boost in the number of fashion professionals visiting the
fairs in a snow-covered Copenhagen. The trade was busy and business
went exceptionally well. A remarkable range of members of the
international press visited the fairs and the shows were featured
on both national and international TV - the feedback and coverage
surpassing all expectation.
Copenhagen Fashion Week kicked off with the CPH Vision Show which
presented an impressive selection of the fair's brand portfolio,
showcasing the trends for next winter. Held in the spectacular
Opera House of Copenhagen, the show attracted the cream of Danish
and international press.
For the first time Terminal-2 presented its own trend show, held in
the amazing venue of the locomotive maintenance building, and
received great feedback for its execution, set-up and
styling.
The first edition of The Boiler was launched in Terminal-2, adding
an additional 1000m2 to the exhibition area at the terminal and
presenting a carefully handpicked selection of the best streetwear
and denim heritage brands of the moment. With its own official
publication, The Boiler, the new area was an immediate
success.
Key concepts this time around were substance, rapid pace and
movement as visitors were welcomed to join the great variety of
entertainment taking place at the fairs - with their extensive
line-up of concerts, lounges and events. Highlights include the
Heineken and Egekilde Afterhour Concerts, the Arctic Elements
reception, the Royal Copenhagen Tea-Time Reception and, as
always, Designers' Nest, the students' design competition, that was
joined by a fantastic judging panel consisting of big international
names from among others WGSN, 10 Magazine and the Sunday
Times.
"There was an overall positive response from both exhibitors
and visitors and a general sense of forward-thinking and brighter
expectations for the market. All concerns about the crisis where
left outside the fair buildings as the focus was on doing business
and looking forward to future prospects. Ever since the start,
we've always been known for our strong business platform and this
time was no exception with an exceptional amount of signed orders
and satisfying results obtained by exhibitors. That's what has made
us come so far and what will continue to make us stronger."
Peter Fenger Selchau, CEO Copenhagen Fashion Fairs
VISITOR FIGURES
Due to a new registration systen and having the
ambition to brand the fairs independently, the
visitor figures from CPH Vision and Terminal-2 are listed
separately with the following results for February 2010:
CPH Vision: 12 404 visitors
Terminal-2: 12 966 visitors
LOOKING FORWARD
Looking forward to our upcoming August fair, the expansion
continues at Copenhagen Fashion Fairs and will include new areas,
re-structuring, and optimised services at both CPH
Vision and Terminal-2. For August 2010, the "Vision Family" will be
increased by one more post as we welcome a new area manager into
the team.
MyFashionWeek - In collaboration with the
fairs in Copenhagen, the travel site for fashion professionals will
be further developed with more services including train tickets,
guides and shuttles as to attract even more buyers and press to
Copenhagen.
Optimised bracelet system - Our newly launched
scanning system will include more services and applications where
exhibitors can scan the visitors at their stands and order food and
additional services using the scan devices.
CPH Vision re-launched - To reinforce the existing
womenswear segment at the fair an even stronger brand portfolio
will be presented and both the exhibition area and exhibitor
numbers will be expanded.
New areas in Terminal-2 - The Boiler will be given
a stronger exhibition profile that will be modified in partnership
with key players in the market. We will also be presenting new
exhibition areas, including The Art Park in the magnificent garden
of Terminal-2.
All this is to strengthen the vision of Copenhagen and stay on top
of the fashion agenda.
