Designers' Nest Award February 2010

The Designers' Nest Award February
2010 was held on Saturday 13 February at 3 pm. The award show
showcased collections by graduate students from nine Scandinavian
design schools:
Danmarks Designskole (Copenhagen),
Designskolen (Kolding), TEKO (Herning), Beckmans Designskole
(Stockholm), Swedish School of Textiles (Borås), University of Art
and Design (Helsinki), Iceland Academy of the Arts, ESMOD
(Oslo).
In partnership with Penther/Formes
Mannequins and Royal Copenhagen, the Designers' Nest Show and Award
are here again to promote the best of Scandinavian design talent
and present the award for Best New Talent and a cash prize of DKK
50,000.
Present at the award show were
Danish and international press and visitors to CPH Vision and
Terminal-2. HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, the patron of
Designers' Nest, was unfortunately not able to make it to the show
this year.
Our esteemed panel of judges this
year included:
Colin McDowell, Senior Fashion
Writer for the Sunday Times and Founder of Fashion Fringe at Covent
Garden.
Tom Steifel-Kristensen, Creative
Director and Fashion Expert.
Rachael Morgan, Managing Director,
Patriksson Communication, and Creative Director, The Vision.
Alice Leeburn, Style Editor,
WGSN.
Hector Castro, Fashion Editor, 10
Magazine.
THE WINNER OF DESIGNERS'
NEST FEBRUARY 2010
is Mille Marie
Jensen from Designskolen Kolding.
The judges' reason for selecting
Mille Marie Jensen was as follows:
"A meanswear collection that we
rarely see at college level and shows that meanswear really is all
about details and here we've seen them. You may not not notice it
on the catwalk but the wearer will enjoy many small twists in this
collection."
First runner-up was Anne Birkjær Bitsch
from Danmarks Designskole who had made a beautiful
women's winter collection.
The winning designs will be
showcased at the Royal Copenhagen flagship store in Amagertorv,
Copenhagen, from 15 February.
Second runner-up
was Kaia Folkvard Rugsveen from Esmod Oslo, who charmed the judges
with a collection celebrating a happy childhood.
